What is an Exercise Physiologist?

Accredited Exercise Physiologists (AEP) are university-qualified allied health professionals.  We are the most qualified professionals in Australia to prescribe exercise programs.

At Set Apart our AEP’s specialise in using exercise as the platform promote physical and mental fortitude and wellness in families, parents (or grandparents!) and children.

is exercise easy?

No, Exercise isn’t easy, and some people have a negative experience with exercise. It is however, essential for a strong, lasting and prosperous life and doing it regularly can give you a great sense of achievement!

At Set Apart we understand, and we are here to help you overcome personal and physical barriers and aim to make exercise fun! We want to see you and your family prosper.

DO I need a referral to book an appointment?

No, you do not need a referral to see us. If you desire to claim rebates via Medicare you will need an appropriate referral prior to your appointment.

Do i need to go to the doctor first?

If you or your child have:

  • A heart condition or history of stroke

  • Poorly controlled diabetes

  • Poorly controlled asthma

  • Get dizzy during exercise

  • Recent surgery

A Doctor’s support and clearance to exercise would be a good idea.

Autism spectrum, ADHD, Neuromuscular disorders.

Set Apart is not a specialist rehabilitation service but focus on lifestyle change for children, adolescents and their families. We specialise in overcoming barriers that limit engagement in physical activity and getting your family to move together.

Medicare?

If you or your child have a chronic medical condition that has been present for 6 months of greater you may be eligible for a Chronic Disease Management (CDM) Plan. A CDM can be used for Exercise Physiology services. The CDM allows a subsidy of the cost per Exercise Physiology session, for five sessions per calendar year.

These conditions could include: asthma, weight management,  obesity,  cardiovascular disease, chronic musculoskeletal conditions.

Private Health Insurance?

Exercise Physiology may be included in your extras cover, please check with your insurer prior to your appointment.
